How can the Center for Service-Learning assist you?
The Center for Service-Learning strives to address community needs with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experiences of UM-W students, teach civic responsibility to UM-W students and strengthen communities in the UM-W area. One way the Center for Service-Learning achieves this goal is to work with faculty, students and community partners to create and implement service-learning opportunities in the campus Experience One block and string courses. In the Spring Semester, The Center for Service-Learning will be accepting nominations for an award given to a faculty member who uses outstanding service-learning as a teaching technique in one of their classes during the 2005-2006 academic year. Last year, Ms. Rebecca Knotts and Dr. Nili Luo were both awarded for implementing service-learning into one of their courses.
The center encourages faculty members to be in touch by using the resources available in the office or keeping the office aware of service-learning activities implemented.
