Special Notice:

This notice is to advise Montana Western students that they may register to vote in Beaverhead County with no financial aid or university residency consequences.  Students should be aware that they may only vote in one county.  If students are currently registered in a different county, and are not voting absentee, they can legally register to vote in the county where they attend school (Beaverhead) by providing proof of their student status at Montana Western.

Students wishing to register as a voter in Beaverhead County should visit the Beaverhead County Courthouse, Clerk and Recorder's Office at 10 North Pacific Street, Dillon.

Financial Aid Steps:

1.  Fill out your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov

2.  Once Montana Western receives your processed FAFSA, we will send you a letter containing a check list and any additional forms your file requires.

3.  Complete any and all paperwork requests in a timely manner- we will not begin to process your aid until we receive the completed forms.

4.  Once we have received your completed paperwork, we will begin to process your aid.  We evaluate and award all files, and we perform a verification process on certian files that the Department of Education selects for audit.  This process may take several weeks to complete.

5.  You will receive a postcard, and an email if you provided an email address on the FAFSA, to notify you that your award letter is ready to sign on the web.  All award letters are sent electronically, and must be signed electronically.  Instructions are included on the postcard notification.  Please note that it is illegal for anyone other than the student to sign the award letter on the web.

6.  If you are taking out student loans, additional steps may be required to complete the loan process.  Your postcard will include instructions.

7.  If this entire process is not completed before the beginning of August, it is likely that your aid will not be processed by the start of fall term.  Students who have not completed the aid process must pay in full and be reimbursed once the aid process is complete.
