Forms of Payment

We accept cash, checks, credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, and Discover), and Bookstore Authorizations. Payments by check require a current UM-Western identification card. We are unable to accept checks for cash without a purchase. UM-Western treats check-writing as a privilege and will revoke that privilige from anyone who abuses it.

Bookstore Authorizations

When paying fees, students may opt to have their excess monies (personal or financial aid) put aside in a bookstore credit account. This money may be used to purchase textbooks and supplies during the Campus Bookstore during the subsequent semester. At the end of each semester all authorizations with positive balances will be returned to the Business Office and credited to the students account.

Refunds

We happily process requests for refunds on purchases if they are returned to us within the refund period with valid sales receipt. The refund period is noted on the refund policy card stapled to each sales receipt. Generally, textbooks may be returned during the first three days of classes, and other merchandise may be returned within one week of the original purchase. We do not accept returns on computer hardware, software, or textbooks which have the shrink-wrapping removed from them. Purchasers of computer software or hardware that is defective must contact the manufacturer.
