Subject Guides to Library Resources
Library instruction is an integral part of academic life at the University of Montana--Western. The explosive growth of information media is not likely to slow in the 21st century. Students who have the skills to find, sift, and evaluate information are more successful in their classes and will be more successful at life-long learning after graduation.
Instructors at Western are encouraged to arrange orientation and research sessions for their classes. While we are happy to provide introductory tours, we feel library instruction is most successful when tied to specific assignments and projects.
This allows us to prepare lessons appropriate to students' needs in the discipline. Sessions can be scheduled in the classroom or in the library. Advance notice is strongly encouraged.
To arrange a tour or instructional session, please contact the library.
