Business & Technology
As a department, the business and technology faculty are committed to providing a unique combination of courses and programs that incorporate technology, problem-based learning and hands-on and team-based projects that challenge students to acquire the practical, intellectual, and technological skills to successfully participate in a diverse and global society.
Classroom discussions incorporate timely issues for purposes of applying relevant theories and students often have the opportunity to work on solving real problems experienced by the department’s partners on Main Street. When students graduate they will have successfully completed an internship, they are confident communicators, can compile and use research data, and are comfortable interacting with others.
Departmental faculty are competent and current in their respective fields and many have had years of corporate experience and/or experience at other institutions prior to joining the faculty at Western. This has resulted in a departmental philosophy of focusing on the students and a commitment to assuring a relevant, stimulating and enjoyable experience for them that results in successful transition into the work force or into a master’s program.
The University of Montana Western Business & Technology (B&T) Department offers three bachelor degree opportunities for students: bachelor of science in business administration, bachelor of applied science in business, and a bachelor of science in natural horsemanship. Students may also pursue an AAS degree or certificate depending on their interests and needs.
